MOTHER SHIPTON

HER LIFE AND PROPHECIES,

MANY and varied are the accounts published of the life and prophecies of Mother Shipton.

The following, collected from many sources, is believed to be as accurate

as most and to be as simple and straight forward as possible.

___

Mother Shipton is high among the lists of

Credible and Historic Oracles

HERE IS A SAMPLE OF WHAT YOU WILL FIND IN THE BOOK...

Then shall Jesus shut his gates.

Mars shall yield to Mercury,

All things tend to prosperity.

Hell's power by a fatal blow.

Shall seek the land to overthrow,

Which by mistake shall be reversed,

And heads from shoulders be dispersed.

The British Olive next shall twine

In Marriage with the German Vine.

The ninth to Death his powers shall yield,

Death conquers all,—he wins the Field.

This Crown then fits the White King's

Who with Lilies soon shall wed.

Then shall a peasant's bloody knife

Deprive a great man of bis Life.

From the North mischief blows

And English Hob stands thereto.

For now the Council great assemble

And make both great and small to trembly

Mars shall rage as if he were wood ;

And earth shall be darkened with blood —

The North shall rue its wonderous sore,

But the South shall rue it evermore.

When war shall begin in the Spring ;

Much woe to England it will bring :

Then shall the ladies cry "Well-a-day,

That ere we lived to see this day."—

Then best for them that have the least

And worst for them that have the most

But tell what's next:  oh, cruel fate,

A King made martyr at his gate.

The White King dead, the Wolf shall then

With blood usurp the Lion's den.

But death shall snatch him hence away :

Confusion shall awhile bear sway;

Till fate to England shall restore

A King to reign as heretofore —

Who mercy, and justice likewise

Shall in this Empire exercise,—

Triumphant Death rides London through,

And men on tops of houses go.
